Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle
“Health is not valued until sickness comes.” — Dr. Thomas Fuller
Adopting a healthier lifestyle for you and your family can be easy to talk about, but tough to get started!
Toxins fill up our bodies by the air we breathe, the things we touch and the food and beverages we eat and drink. In our bodies, when toxins come in at a faster rate than our bodies can process them, our body pulls those toxins away from our vital organs and holds them in fat stores. The toxins are also stored in the thyroid, brain, central nervous system, and liver. Sometimes our toxic load is so high that it “spills over the top” which can lead to a range of health problems such as diabetes, skin irritations, heart disease, chronic pain, digestive problems, headaches, mood swings, irritability and more.
How do we detoxify?
The first step in detoxifying is “turning down the faucet” by eating whole non-allergenic foods. Eating whole foods gives our bodies a rest from digesting the processed foods commonly found in typical Western diets. Our bodies were not designed to process these highly processed and addictive foods. By not eating allergenic foods such as dairy, wheat and soy, we keep our bodies from producing their own toxic responses to those foods.
The second step in our detoxification program involves “cleaning the drain.” Our bodies detoxify via our liver, gallbladder, kidneys, lungs and skin. These organs are our toxic “drain.” A gentle internal body cleanse is included as part of this program so we can effectively “clean the drain.”
A third step is to incorporate additional things into your life or diet, including water that has a pH level of at least 7 to return your body to an alkaline state, practicing meditation and yoga, spending time in an infrared sauna, or having lymphatic massage.
Our Healthy Lifestyle Jump Start Program incorporates a great tasting, vegan nutrition line with whole foods to help us detoxify and cleanse our bodies from toxins It is simple, easy to follow and fits into any lifestyle. We have a step-by-step system that teaches you how to eat whole foods and helps you learn which foods do and do not work well. On our program, most people experience physical benefits such as mental clarity, better sleep, better moods, lower blood pressure, relief from aches and pain, and better digestion.

The Necklace
Here we are, women, who have been the beneficiaries of education, resources, reproductive choice, travel opportunities, the Internet, and a longer life expectancy than women have ever had in history. What can and will we do?
- Jean Shinoda Bolen -
And so begins this book that I picked up just before Christmas – one of those that jumped off the shelf for me! It’s a true account of one woman’s inspiration to purchase a beautiful $37,000 necklace, with 12 other women!
Relationships were built, tested and re-built as the necklace was passed from each woman – and they each shared it in their own unique way.
What resonated with me the most was the way that the necklace was used to support other causes and bring joy to the lives of the people who extended beyond the circle of 13.
This is a quick read – I recommend it!
Blue Wasabi – Gilbert, AZ
It was a beautiful day in Arizona today and Brian and I ventured to San Tan Village – one of our favourite ourdoor malls to wander through on a sunny day! We’ve driven past the Blue Wasabi Sushi and Martini Bar a few times and decided to give it a try – we had an outdoor seat (in the sunshine) and a really great server, Heather (I really wanted to get her picture to put in my blog but since I’m new at this I was a bit shy – yes, me – shy, I know I can hear you all now!). I’ll share more about how Heather handled a ‘situation’ later but for now, have a peek at what we had for lunch!
Started with a california roll and some edamame – probably one of the best california rolls we’ve had so far!
The wasabi is really blue – mixed with my soy sauce it was a kind of seaweed colour – not my favourite but I asked Heather and they do serve just regular green wasabi – you have to ask for it – I’ll be sure to do that next time!
I’m a little more adventurous with my food choices – I had the Marilyn Monroll – it was so pretty! More on the sashimi side that the sushi side it included tuna, yellowtail, salmon, spicy tuna, crab, avacado and cucumber and pink soy paper – my first encounter with this – it was beautiful!ellowtail,
And for my meat and potatoes guy – the buddha burgers (there were two mini burgers) and some sweet potatoe fries – he loves these so much – normally it comes with a mix of sweet potatoe and yukon gold but they substituted full on SP for him, no problem – oh, and they were good too – well, I had to try…
Really impressed with the way that Heather handled a potentially icky situation – two ladies next too us were enjoying some drinks on the patio as well and dispite the ‘no smoking’ signs posted, one of them decided to light up – when I mentioned it (because it is just so disgusting) Heather said she’d have someone speak to them – quickly another server appeared and casually walked the length of the patio, ‘noticed’ the smoker and asked her to put it out. She never knew it was us that mentioned it – but man, people are funny – it’s like…if I hold the cigarette over the edge of the fence that separates the restaurant from the patio then techically i’m not smoking ‘in the restaurant’.
Overall a fantastic experience – would go back in a second and would recommend it others – hey, I guess I just did!
Living in bliss,
Carolyne
BLISS – what does it mean to me?
New year on the horizon and now a place to capture all the bits and pieces, people and places that come my way. Yesterday’s 1:00 coffee with my friend Norma Strange ended at 9:00 pm after we attended a networking mixer – Austin’s Who’s Who of North Scottsdale.
But – before we went there we did lots of talking, thinking and brainstorming. Watch for stuff coming up under the BLISS banner – and what does that mean to me – well – ultimately that’s what we all want, isn’t it? BLISS – synonomous with happiness – and for me it means:
Believe
Learn
Inspire
Serve
Succeed
I’ve been reading Crush It! by gary vay ner chuk – fantastic book – you know how you have that one thing that spurs you to act? I’ve been on facebook and I have a twitter account and I’ve been playing around with both of these, but not in a ‘how it all makes sense’ kind of way – you know how you can get overwhelmed with all the different things out there that teach you this or that – webinars and teleconferences and blog posts and free courses and courses that cost money and oh my goodness, I’m a fairly technical social media savvy person compared to some of my colleagues and I feel overwhelmed. But…now that I’ve read his book I am so all over it – he writes in a way that makes sense and doesn’t over explain everything. I know I have lots more learning to do but for now – here it is – me to the world. I have lots of ideas of what I want to do and write about – mainly the cool things that come into my world every day – those ‘syncronistic’ meetings – you know how that happens – you talk about slowing down and taking time to breathe and then you walk into a restaurant and the song that is being piped through is “Breathe” by Faith Hill.
